Another set that was destined to be sold at the San Diego Comic Con is now available at LEGO.com in the USA. The 120-piece Super Mario set 77907 Toad's Special Hideaway is priced at $19.99.

In other SDCC news, two more sets have been discovered today. Instructions for hitherto unseen Star Wars set 77904 Nebulon-B Frigate have been posted at LEGO.com, and those for Marvel Super Heroes 77905 Taskmaster's Ambush have been uncovered by Promobricks in LEGO's building instructions app.

It is likely that none of them will be available outside of the USA.

By in Netherlands,

I really dont understand why these sets must be exclusives to the US only. They are nice little sets and should be availible for everybody. A lot of people would buy these which would mean more money for Lego. Please Lego explain why you do this?

SDCCs are the worst. Absolute middle finger from LEGO to their loyal fans.

There are still exclusives available only in certain regions, but they’re promotional products for events or other stores and distribution is not decided entirely by LEGO.

By in New Zealand,

I don’t care abt this one but I need the black widow set ....

During that statement, they already said the rule won't include the con exclusives.
But there weren't physical cons this year, so these shouldn't be North America exclusive...

By in United Kingdom,

It’s not like they haven’t had more time to produce more to be able to ship to the rest of the world.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

UURRGGHH, WHY ANOTHER US EXCLUSIVE

They definitely favour the US

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I understand SDCC exclusives being limited, but even in Canada we can't get this? I mean come on, I want a complete Super Mario Theme, why was one of the sets made available as an exclusive? I trust there are no unique gimmicks or character interactions with this set for the brick or other Mario scan elements because if so that's just a cheap shot for the fans of LEGO Super Mario.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Again an exclusive that isn't available in the Netherlands.
First the battle, now the frigate...
THIS S*CKZ

I’m in the same boat here in NZ - so frustrating

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

2 unique figures in the marvel set as well. I guess we can only hope they show up elsewhere

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Brickset should boycot these US exclusives as a kind of protest......... just kidding, the database must be complete. But Lego must stop torturing Lego fans outside the US

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

Ok, that Black Widow SDCC set should have been in the store as a regular set with a few modifications, I want that ship.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I would love to get hold of that Nebulon frigate set. I voted for it in the UCS poll.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looks like the "suspension" on the Black Widow set uses Mixels joints. A fantastic idea for a display set, but it will probably require modification if you want to play with it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Super excited to see a Nebulon-B! But I'm torn because TLG really needs to stop excluding the rest of the world from these great sets.

So much of TLG's brand image is being customer-friendly, and like others have said, moves like this are really giving the "middle finger" to a huge number of LEGO fans.

Gravatar
By in United States,

came for the "no more regional exclusives" crying, even though it's a convention exclusive

alas not disappointed

By in United States,

Bought toads house last night - they updated the mario app but no instructions for it...

Just2good even had one piece left, not sure if different tiles or not i haven't got mario yet to find out...

also got two mario cmfs last time i ordered two I got two eep cheeps...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

This may be the straw that’s broken my marvel Lego collecting... oh well, I’ll save money for other things, but it is a slap in the face for those who have been collecting marvel sets (despite their poor builds) for the minifigs! (Unless they put figs in poly bag like captain marvel)

Gravatar
By in Italy,

I can understand that if the sets are presented at special events, they can only be purchased there. I understand it, but I don't find it right.
But now we are talking about sets sold on the official LEGO site.
So they had to follow the global availability rule declared last year.
They are willing to cancel, losing millions of €, sets made and ready for sale just because they resemble a military aircraft and continue to discriminate between those who live in one place or another. I don't think LEGO should be that.

Gravatar
By in United States,

That Nebulon is amazing. I probably wouldn't buy a UCS Nebulon but that scale is much better suited for such a large ship. I'd love to see a series of ships in this scale. So much more affordable and easier to display. I just don't have the room to display all the UCS ships.

I'd also like to see a Star Wars series similar to Architecture. Cloud City would look so great. I digress...

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Here we go again, some people in the US, Canada or Mexico will buy more than one of these sets and re-sell them on Bricklink (where lego also gets a share of the money) for USD 100 or more.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I want I want the nebulon b.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Gutted these are not available for store Release...
If lego did sell them in the Uk i would defo get the black widow one!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Lego has lost a loyal customer in me thanks to this

Only joking but it’s a bit rubbish these and others not being more widely available

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

I've been wanting a Nebulon set for years, and this just looks so good for it's size. Really a shame it's exclusive to the US again. Come on, and it's always the US, it's not even the continent where it originated!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I spoke to someone at the Discovery Centre near me and they are expecting the Toad set soon. As far as the other two we will see if they are available for the rest of North America.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Friendly reminder that Lego is likely bound by exclusivity agreements with both license holders and event organizers.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Oh fantastic, the Black Widow set has 2 exclusive minifigures. One extremely disappointed UK collector here.

Actually, it literally is like they haven't had more time to do so. Convention exclusives are produced in smaller batches than typical sets in part because they have to be slotted into an already packed yearly production schedule at Lego's factories, even in a good year. So especially in 2020, when COVID shutdowns and high demand have left many of Lego's factories struggling to catch up on production of even their regular product lines, it's silly to think that Lego could just drop everything else to make additional promotional sets for an event that didn't even take place as planned. The only reason these are being released at all now is because they had likely already been produced and packaged before the full extent of COVID's impact on conventions this year became apparent.

Easy to say when you're not in a locked out region
Personally I don't give 2 hoots BTW!

Gravatar
By in United States,

A "glass half full" perspective might be that, previously, these sets would only be available to those fortunate enough to pay to attend an exclusive, in-person event that only happened in a single city for a few days each year . . . or who paid exorbitant prices on the after-market. Now, they are available to a much larger group of customers . . . who might sell them for somewhat less-than-exorbitant prices on the after-market. That's a small win, at the very least.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have to get 77904 so hopefully details about that one pop up soon.

As for 77907 it is also available through Target and therefore with the red card you can get 5% off.

Event exclusives was the exception

Gravatar
By in United States,

Also putting this out there as an FYI, but 77906 which is the Wonder Woman set is available through Walmart's website currently.

I found it while trying to track down where the Frigate might be getting sold.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think I'm going to get the Taskmaster, Nebulon, and Toad ones, the others I can pass.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

SDCC is one of the most over rated conventions I know of. They're so annoying to deal with and in love with themselves, I just can't stand that. This year was gold, and I do hope Lego will continue to make these nice sets open for all. There's really no reason for these to be locked as NO ONE going to SDCC is actually interested in these items, they're just buying them to sell, sometimes the moment they exit the line with the product.

Absolutely.
I have always hated the effort TLG put into the SDCC sets. It has always been a way to show how little they value their loyal customers in favor of some publicity at this overrated event.
I have often wondered if the frustration and lost revenue by disgruntled fans was worth it for TLG.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

The Nebulon B frigate is one of the most requested sets that Lego never made. I think it's a real dick move of Lego if the first Nebulon B frigate they release will be an US SDCC exclusive.
But hey, this counts for every region exclusive set if you ask me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

One good thing about COVID (compared to thousands of NOT GOOD stuff) is that due to mass cancellations of these events; many businesses have made usually "hard-to-get and expensive when you do" products made for festivals and conventions more widely available (usually through them) at reasonable prices, not scalper/reseller prices.

Is Toad the first Mario character that we could consider a minifig? Albeit, he does have a Minion body.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't think I could hate SDCC exclusivity more if I went out of my way to. Anti-consumer and anti-fan. Disgusting.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

The "no more regional exclusives" promise feels more and more hollow when they at the same time seems to have doubled or tripled the store/convention exclusives, both in number and size. They may be technically right but it's still a dick move, especially how they consistently favours the US and especially this single Convention At The End Of The World.

While I don't personally care about any of these, I still understands the frustration of not being able to get them at a reasonable price. At least the Toad's Hideaway seems to mostly be parts of the 71368 Treasure Hunt set (provided it doesn't have any exclusive tiles) and hopefully the Nebulon-B also can be built from easily obtainable parts, but as usual the Marvel set has exclusive figures (which always has seemed to be their main strategy - use desirable figures to sell mediocre builds).

There's two things I think Lego should improve on - 1) cut back on exclusives in any form, or at least stick to those using widely-available parts and figures, and 2) stop introducing nice GWPs a few days AFTER an expensive set. It's so bloody frustrating to order a large set on the 1st (since you never know if it's going to be sold out for a long time) and then getting cheated out of a GWP introduced the 5th.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Yet another US exclusive after they said they’d stop regional exclusives :eyeroll:

I really hope LEGO wakes the hell up and realises just how bad this makes them look to their international fanbase. Hopefully they have these sets in the pipeline for next year. How hard can it be to just give these sets new set numbers and put them out like normal?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm ordering three for international friends I've made in the Lego community--just as I did with the Bespin Duel and the Wonder Woman sets. Perhaps there can be some sort of Brickset 'friends' network where non-US people become 'pen pal partners' with US buyers. It cost $28 to ship Bespin Duels to Australia and Germany.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I can somewhat understand US sets exclusive for US licenses like Disney Marvel/Star Wars or DC (still a bad move imo).

But Super Mario now too?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well I must say that Nebulon B looks amazing. I don’t typically like these smaller scale sets, but considering how its 458 bricks, I can’t imagine how prohibitively expensive it would if they produced one that could hold minifigures.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I would gladly trade the opportunity to get any SDCC set for the chance to have purchased the first batch of Chinese New Year sets when they came out a while back. But the grass is always greener on the other side of the... globe. Lol

Gravatar
By in Finland,

I hope Lego sees the overwhelmingly negative response that all have these have gotten due to their availability and next year or so, they'll have these types of sets available for anyone

Gravatar
By in United States,

Europe got exclusivity earlier this year when sets exclusive to the Lego House were sold online. It's unfortunate, but just about every business I know of operates that way.

Regarding the SDCC sets specifically, everyone blames Lego for it, but I highly doubt they're the ones paying the entire bill to produce and sell them. I think there's a very good chance SDCC pays Lego for these, and depending on the amount, that's just good business.

Not all of Europe, afaik the Dino set for example was only available in the UK. Not sure about the Architecture LEGO House set though.
In any case, this was just as bad a move by TLG as the SDCC sets.

Which ones do you want? I hate region exclusives. Pay for shipping and I’ll buy you, or anyone that sees this, a set if I can. I always hated seeing legos only sold at the store in Denmark or other region exclusives I couldn’t get :( I will try to ship everyone I can one of these

That is a brilliant idea. Im gonna see if I can work out how to get this up and running

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's even got the Millennium falcon hanging under the hull!

@ChrisBricks81:
Little bit. Even though I intend to try to buy this one, I remember that when they held the UCS vote a while back, one of the most common comments at the time is that it's the most iconic SW ship that they've never released. Somehow I don't think all those people were hoping for a set that would cost twice as much as the average UCS set for something that's just a fraction of the size.

Gravatar

Target also sells this one @19.99.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@cocoman :
I just submitted a request yesterday to fix the comment system where it automatically treats any use of the "@" symbol as preceding a username, but I specifically mentioned it in relation to the "LEGO.com" abbreviation for LEGO Shop-At-Home. I didn't think about any other random uses that people might come up with.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

What's the point of this @username thing anyway? I've never liked using it - on one side it feels rather rude and confrontational (a bit like pointing at someone), on the other it's pretty useless as it just links to the user's (mostly empty) profile page, rather than the message I'm replying to.

It's a bit silly how it screws with the Shop-at-home name, but it's even worse on many other forums where you often can see stuff like "the set is available at [email protected] now".
